The Utah Golf Hall of Fame, which began in 1991 with 10 charter members, will add four new members later this month.

Bill Johnston, Jack Ridd, Bev Nelson and Ed Kingsley have been elected and will be inducted at an official ceremony Sept. 20 at Fort Douglas Club. They join Johnny Miller, Billy Casper, Tee Branca, Bill Korns, George Marks, George Von Elm, George Schneiter Sr., Ernie Schneiter Sr., Helen Hofman Bertagnole and Steve Dunford, who were inducted three years ago.The 69-year-old Johnston has had a diverse career as a player, club professional, tournament director and golf course architect.

He played on the PGA Tour for several years, winning two tournaments and currently plays on the Senior PGA Tour.

Nelson, 68, won the Utah State Women's Amateur Championship eight times from 1955 to 1979 and also won more than 50 other tournaments including the City Parks several times.

The 74-year-old Ridd is a two-time Utah State Amateur champ and has won three UGA Senior championships.

In all, Ridd has won more than 100 tournaments in the intermountain area.

Kingsley dominated Utah golf during the 1930s when he won four straight Utah State Amateur tournaments.

In 1934 he won both the Utah Amateur and Utah Open, a feat that hasn't been accomplished since.

The Utah Golf Hall of Fame is housed at the new Eaglewood Golf Course in North Salt Lake.
