A pair of President Clinton's top-of-the-line Nike Air 180 running shoes, white with an orange swoosh, are the newest addition to the Brockton Shoe Museum's celebrity footwear collection.
For the past couple of months, the shoes have been sandwiched between baseball legend Ted Williams' cleats and boxing giant Primo Carnera's size 23 dress shoes. So how does it feel to have the keys to presidential power - or at least endurance - in your hands?
"Terrific," said John Learnard, head of the Brockton Historical Society. "Isn't it great to be holding the president's jogging shoes?"
The celebrity collection includes shoes from Rocky Marciano and Marvin Hagler, both natives of the city, about 25 miles south of Boston.
The White House donated the running shoes in response to a request by a public relations firm that is helping the museum raise money. Clinton's are the first presidential shoes in the exhibit.
The museum features exhibits on shoe assembly, and a large collection of military, civilian and exotic footwear.
