With 5:38 left in the third quarter the American Fork fans erupted in song, "Na, na, na, na, hey, hey, hey, goodbye."
It was a little early to be claming victory, especially against Provo's lethal passing attack. But Friday night in American Fork it didn't matter what Provo did, the Bulldogs couldn't stop American Fork's ground game.
It was Joel Jorgensen around the end, Ryan Loo around the other end and B.J. Eckles up the middle.
Provo knew it was coming but couldn't stop it. The result was a Cavemen battering of the Bulldogs 47-16.
American Fork went to work on it's first drive, gaining big chunks of yards on each run. Finally, Jorgensen scampered in from 17 yards out for the Cavemen's first score with 6:38 left in the first quarter.
Andy Dollar's PAT missed, leaving the Cavemen with a 6-0 lead.
It looked like Provo might make a game of it when the Bulldogs marched right back and cut the lead in half with a 42-yard field goal from Sloan Robison.
But the Cavemen ground game was too dominating. American Fork went 80-yards on 10 straight running plays capped off by Loo's 1-yard run to take a 13-3 lead with 7:08 left in the first half.
While American Fork's defense was frustrating Provo's passing attack, the Cavemen were taking turns running the ball down the Bulldogs throat.
Loo added another 1-yard touchdown run with just 43 seconds left in the half to put American Fork up 20-3 following the PAT.
Any thoughts for a Provo comeback were crushed with a pair of Jorgensen touchdown runs from nine and 45 yards early in the third quarter.
American Fork finished the game with a whopping 565 yards in total offense. Loo led the rushing attack with 155 yards on 13 carries. Jorgensen had 135 yards rushing on 16 carries.
