First-degree murder warrants have been issued in Lafayette County, Mo., and Mojave County, Ariz., for Allen L. Nicklasson and Dennis J. Skillicorn. Both men have been the subjects of a nationwide manhunt since federal carjacking warrants were issued for them on Sept. 1 in Kansas City, Mo.
Nicklasson and Skillicorn are believed to be armed with an arsenal of weapons, including at least seven guns and a large quantity of ammunition. These items were taken during burglaries in Missouri and Arizona.
In addition to slayings in Missouri and Arizona, the duo may also have been involved in the shooting death of Paul J. Hines, a 31-year-old truck driver who was abducted on Aug. 31 near a truck stop at Battle Mountain, Nev.
Hines' body was found the following day about 120 miles east of Elko, Nev., near I-80. Witnesses reported seeing a vehicle similar to the 1989 Dodge Ram Charger stolen from the Arizona murder victims fleeing the area where Hines' body was found. Police in Utah have received several reports of sightings of Nicklasson and Skillicorn in Cedar City, Provo and other areas. The most recent reported sighting was in West Valley City. Officers are investigating each report, but so far none of the reports has positively identified the fugitives. Investigators are asking the public to remain alert to the possible presence of the fugitives.
