Orem businessman Marlon O. Snow has been elected chairman of the Utah State Board of Education.

Snow, owner of MST Trucking Inc., was elected to the board in 1992. He has been chairman of the Utah Valley State College Foundation Board and has served on the Alpine School District Foundation. He has worked in the trucking industry since 1970.Snow succeeds C. Grant Hurst, a banker, who has served on the board since 1991, when appointed to fill the unexpired term of Richard Maxfield. He was elected to the board in 1992.

Linnea S. Barney, a registered nurse, was elected vice chairman. Also of Orem, she earned a bachelor of science from Brigham Young University. She has served as vice president of the Utah State PTA for five years.
