Wake up, Utah. Hockey is out of hibernation. I am a Denver resident, had season tickets to the 1994-1995 Turner Cup champions Denver Grizzlies, and even traveled to Kansas City to watch them win the Turner Cup on June 2. Our loss is your gain. I sold my NHL Colorado Avalanche Oct. 6 opening game tickets (at face value) and visited Salt Lake City to witness the Oct. 6-7 Utah Grizzlies opening weekend. The Utah Grizzlies deliver top value for your entertainment dollar - great music, a super mascot, dynamite videos and, above all, a team under coach Butch Goring that gives 110 percent for three 20-minute periods each game.

Thousands of fans in Denver would rather have the Grizzlies than NHL. Hockey in Denver was family entertainment when the Grizzlies were in town - now it's mostly corporate seats with the NHL. Visit the Delta Center - experience the excitement yourself. You'll return often. I plan to travel from Denver monthly to enjoy what you can experience almost every week.Skip Ulmer
