Leslie John Cook, 73, former resident of the Salt Lake City area, died August 15, 1995, in Perth, Australia of heart disease.

Mr. Cook was born July 30, 1922, in Lowestoft, England, the eldest child of John Francis Cook and Hilda Vida Elizabeth Moore. He was a World War II veteran who served in the Royal Air Force during the North Africa campaign. He held a degree in fine arts from London University and was an art teacher in Norwich, England, before immigrating to the United States. He was employed as a designer at Young Electric Sign Company for many years, then resumed his teaching career in Hamilton, New Zealand.He is survived by his five children: Mrs. Susan Blake, Cedar City, Utah; Mrs. Vida Gruendell, Vacaville, California; Mrs. Lesley Clason, Ashland, Oregon; Mrs. Frances Staub, Cross Plains, Wisconsin; Mr. Peter Cook, Los Angeles, California and 15 grandchildren.

Graveside services and burial were in Australia where Mr. Cook had made his home and continued his lifelong passion for painting.
