A sixth person has been charged with shooting a 3-year-old girl to death when the car she was in strayed into gang territory.
Murder and attempted murder charges were filed against a 16-year-old on Wednesday, the day the girl, Stephanie Kuhen, would have turned 4.The youth, whose name was not released because of his age, was scheduled to be arraigned Thursday. Police did not say if he is believed to be a gang member.
The district attorney's office will ask to try the youth as an adult, a spokeswoman said. A hearing on the request was set for Oct. 19.
Those previously charged with the girl's slaying are 18-year-old Marvin Alejandro Pech; 23-year-old Marcos Antonio Luna; 26-year-old Anthony Rodriguez, and two other 16-year-old boys whose identities have been withheld.
Kuhen was killed Sept. 17 when the driver of a car she was riding in mistakenly turned down a gangland street.
Her 2-year-old brother was shot in the foot and the driver suffered a minor back wound.
