Jerry is a gentle, loving, and courageous man whose life represented principles worth emulating. The family legacy he has left is immeasurable. Jerry passed on November 10, 1995 following a lingering illness.
He was born May 1, 1929 in Pocatello, Idaho to Charles George Petersen and Olga Olympia Arnason. He graduated from Grant High School in Portland, Oregon and went on to the University of Oregon where he graduated with a degree in Architecture. He also served an LDS mission to Uruaguay/Paraguay. He and Carole Claudine Hansen were married in the Salt Lake LDS Temple, September 16, 1957. His church callings as Bishop and in an MTC branch presidency were the highlights of his love for missionary service. Throughout his life, his architecture has provided enjoyment to him and recognized him with many awards as to his proficiency, creativity, and imagination. His artistic talents flowed over into his building and flying remote control airplanes, his second love.Jerry is survived by his wife, Carole, and his six children: Mrs. Susan Byers (Douglas), Spanish Fork; Scott Petersen and wife, Victoria, Pleasant Grove; Chris Petersen, Provo; Mrs. Sandra Johnson (Derrek), Springville; Mrs. Kristen Ituma (Alex), Seattle, Wash.; and Mrs. Angela Spratt (Jason) Littleton, Colo.; sisters, Mrs. Blanche Wilson, (Jay); Mrs. Janis Wallace (George); and Mrs. Elaine Bush (Douglas); 11 grandchildren, BJ, Jennifer, Zachary, Kaci, Jessica, Lindsy, Macall, Collin, Paige, Aubrey and Carly Anne.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 14, at 11 a.m. in the Edgemont 1th Ward Chapel, 3050 Mojave Lane, Provo, Utah. Friends may call Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Walker Sanderson Funeral Home, 600 East 800 North, Orem, and Tuesday morning from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the ward chapel. Burial will be in the East Lawn Memorial Hills Cemetery.
