Susan Ina Scovil Strong, age 92, died on November 2, 1995 in American Fork.
She was born February 16, 1903, in Mt. Pleasant, a daughter of Amasa and Josephine Alena Madsen Scovil. She married J. Lynn Strong on February 17, 1934, in Provo. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. He died May 17, 1970. She was raised in Mt. Pleasant and graduated from North Sanpete High School. She also attended Wasatch Academy.She worked for several years as a chief telephone operator in Mt. Pleasant. After her marriage she lived in Nephi before moving to American Fork in 1947.
She was an active member of the LDS Church living in the American Fork 6th Ward. She served in the Primary, the Relief Society presidency, and was a visiting teacher for over 50 years.
She loved quilting and her family will treasure the quilts and afghans she made for them.
She is survived by one son and two daughters; Max D. Strong (Barabara) of Stansbury Park; Alice Ballard (Wayne) of Draper; and Carol Forester (Bob) of Pleasant Grove; 13 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and special friends, Ray and Marlene Bowers. Preceded in death by daughter, Alta Mariam; a great-granddaughter, KC Buzianis, two brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held Monday, November 6, 1995 in the American Fork 6th Ward (300 North 100 East) at 11 a.m. Friends may call Sunday from 6-8 p.m. at Anderson & Sons Mortuary (49 East 100 North, American Fork) and an hour prior to the service at the church. Burial, in the Provo City Cemetery.
