Cross-country skiers and snow shoers will have to trek a little farther this winter if they want to use their favorite trails at the Spruces campground.

Access to the campground in Big Cottonwood Canyon will be cut off when the bridge across Big Cottonwood Creek is removed this week.The bridge needs to be replaced to ensure public safety according to District Ranger Michael Sieg. The new bridge will not be completed until Spring of 1996. The nearest parking area for the winter will be Mill D. trailhead and Cardiff Fork.
