A South Jordan woman has died from injuries she sustained Tuesday after the car she was riding in was struck by an ambulance racing to a nearby accident.

Killed was:Susan Stringham, 18.

Stringham was a passenger in a Nissan sedan going westbound near 8300 West and 3500 South Tuesday morning.

The car's driver, Camille Stringham, 24, said she didn't see the Gold Cross ambulance coming up behind her. The ambulance - which had its lights and sirens on - broadsided Stringham's car when she tried to make a left turn into a grocery store parking lot.

A preliminary investigation suggests the bracket on Susan Stringham's seat belt may have been broken, according to Salt Lake County Sheriff's Lt. Ed Colbert.
