A small dog dubbed "Milagro" or "Miracle" is among the few survivors from the American Airlines jet that crashed in Colombia with 164 people aboard, officials said Friday.
The golden brown, Dachshund-like dog, a female, was discovered in the wreckage of the Boeing 757 jet that slammed into a mountain in southwest Colombia on Wednesday night, an airline spokesman said."We'll try to get it to the family where it belongs," he said, adding that it was not immediately clear whether the dog's owners were among the 160 people killed in the crash.
Rescue worker Jhon Jairo Hoyo told reporters the dog found in a part of the plane's fuselage seemed to have emerged from the disaster virtually unscathed.
