A Vermont company plans to build a cogeneration plant in Glenns Ferry to produce electric power, plus steam for a potato processor.

Catamount Energy Corp. of Rutland, Vt., has announced plans to construct the cogeneration plant on property owned by Magic West, a potato-processing concern.Gary Normoyle, Catamount vice president, said a 10-megawatt turbine would produce about 240 kilowatt-hours per day. A megawatt is enough power to light 10,000 100-watt light bulbs.

A turbine running on natural gas would create the electricity, which would be sold to Idaho Power Co., Normoyle said.
