Gladys Layton, age 87, died on December 1, 1995 in her home in Provo, Utah.
Born in Liverpool, England June 23, 1908 to Walter Matthew and Janet Johnson Pickles. She came to Canada in l914 with her family and lived in Medicine Hat, Alberta,where she received all her education. She married Cecil Layton in the Alberta Temple, Cardston, Alberta. In 1956, she moved to Provo with her husband, Cecil Layton and son, Walter. She was employed at B.Y.U. in food services for 21 years from 1956 to 1977 when she retired. She then worked at the Utah Tech College for nine years. She was active in the LDS Church holding many positions in Canada and Provo.Survived by husband, Cecil Layton and one son, Walter Layton and his wife, Ann of Midvale, Utah; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three sisters, Doris Hartas, Victoria, British Columbia, Hilda Pickles, Vauxhall, Alberta and Vera Kemble, Peterborough, Ontario, all of Canada. She was preceded in death by one brother, Walter Pickles of Calgary, Canada, and an infant brother, Albert of Liverpool, England; one sister Janet Ross, Vauxhall, Alberta, Canada and a sweet infant granddaughter, Annalise.
Funeral services Tuesday, December 5th, 12 noon at the Park Ward LDS Chapel, 101 West 800 North, Provo, Utah. Friends and family may call at the Berg Mortuary of Provo, 185 East Center Street on Monday 6 to 8 p.m and also on Tuesday at the ward one hour prior to the services.
