R. Clayton Lewis, age 77, died in LDS Hospital Friday, February 10, 1995, from complications after heart surgery.

Clayton was born January 7, 1918 in Richmond, Utah, to Ralph Carson and Maria (Mae) Smith Lewis. He was a loving husband, father and adored grandpa, who will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.He graduated from North Cache High School and attended Weber State College. He served in the Army from March 1941 until June 1945 in the 1st Armored Division during WWII. He married Melita DeMille on October 20, 1945. He retired from Hill Air Force Base, where he worked in Quality Control. He owned a small dairy in Hooper where he lived for over 40 years. Melita passed away in 1992 after a long illness. Clayton married Mary R. Beecher, a former high school sweetheart on November 9, 1993. He was an active member of the LDS Church, having served in many positions, including High Counselor and Counselor in the Bishopric.

He is survived by his wife, Mary, two sons, Craig C. (Janice) Kirk W. (Lynda), four stepchildren, Marilyn Oxborrow, Robert C. Beecher, Ellen Sue Dunn, Debbra Nance; 32 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; brothers, Bill, Melvin, Kay, Don, Sherman and Robert; sisters, Alice Waymen, Eunice Kent, Connie Sawyer and Tamara Grange; stepmother, Beatrice Thomas Lewis and many nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his wife Melita, son Bruce, and brother Arthur.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 14, 1995, 11 a.m. in the Hooper 4th Ward Chapel, 5601 South 6100 West. Friends may call at the Lindquist's Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. and at the Hooper 4th Ward one hour prior to the funeral on Tuesday. Interment will be in the Hooper Cemetery, where military honors will be accorded by the D.A.V.
