Dr. H. H. Fisher of La Jolla, Calif., better known as Bill, on February 9, 1995.
He was born in Salt Lake City on June 4, 1908. After graduating from the University of Utah, he spent a year in Europe and then worked for a year in New York City. He returned to Salt Lake in 1931 to join the family business, The Fisher Brewing Company. The brewery shut down during Prohibition and the Fishers joined the Mutual Creamery Company, reopening the brewery in 1933. Following the brewery's sale in 1958, he obtained a Doctorate of Economics at the University of Southern California. He then taught for 21 years at San Diego State University, where he was Associate Professor of Corporate Finance and Investments, retiring at age 79.During World War II, he served in combat for 306 days as a member of the US Field Artillery, attaining the rank of Captain and receiving the Purple Heart. He was a member of the Alta Club in Salt Lake City, a Rotarian for 58 years, and a member of the La Jolla Country Club, where he was an avid golfer.
Preceded in death by his first wife, Margaret Nibley Fisher in 1983. He is survived by his second wife, Verena, his daughter, Duse Fisher McLean, of Seattle, Washington; and three grandchildren.
