The Newgate Mall has 70,000 square feet of retail space under construction, and later this year another 30,000 square feet will be started, according to Mark Adair, mall leasing representative.
Adair and Beth Bradford head the mall leasing team, and they believe the 100,000 square feet will offer shoppers a greater variety of new and exciting retailers. "The changes we made to the center last fall and the current merchandising effort will satisfy the demand for greater selection and the latest retail format at Newgate Mall," they said.Recently, Dillard's moved into the mall and Sears has spent $3 million in a major redevelopment plan.
New retailers in the mall are Victoria's Secret, Lane Bryant, Bath & Body Works, Limited Express Compagnie Internationale, Afterthoughts and All a Dollar. Stores scheduled to open soon are Famous Footwear, Haircuts Plus, Software Etc., B. Dalton Bookseller and Applebee's Neighborhood Grill & Bar.
Newgate Mall is owned and managed by Homart, the commercial real estate development arm of Sears, Roebuck and Co.
