Authorities are investigating the death of a California man whose body was found in a car along with a cache of explosives.

Bryce Canyon National Park Superintendent Fred Fagergren said the man was identified as Aaron Mark Wilson, 18, of Bakersfield, Calif. His car was found about nine miles inside the park in southern Utah after vacationers reported a rollover to park officials at about 3:30 a.m. Saturday. Emergency personnel determined the car was not damaged in a rollover but by an explosion.

Part of the explosives Wilson was carrying went off, destroying the car, while some remained active, Fagergren said. Park personnel called the Garfield County sheriff's office for help in detonating the remaining explosives and retrieving Wilson's body.
