LaWana Martin, mother, daughter, grandma, and friend, finally found peace on March 11, 1995 after a long illness.
She was born January 2, 1941 in Salt Lake City to Preston Lee and LaVella Harker Matthews. She graduated from Murray High.She married Leonard Muir and had a son, Chad. Later she married John N. Martin and had two daughters, Bridgette and Raquel. She was preceded in death by her husband, John.
She is survived by her parents; her children, Chad (Dawn) Martin, Las Vegas, Nev.; Bridgette (Denny) Thurman, Sandy; Raquel (David) Huddleston, McPherson, Kansas; and her four terrific grandchildren, Amber Renea, Taylor Jo, John Preston, Kiara Michelle; two sisters, LaVella Briggs, Rhea (Arthur) Kiisel.
Her greatest joys were playing piano, gardening, home decorating and writing poetry. She had a very tender heart and will be missed by all who knew her.
Friends may call one hour prior to services. Memorial services will be held at Redwood Memorial Estates, 6500 South Redwood Road, Wednesday, March 15, 1995 at 11 a.m.
