Candice Bergen's days as a spokeswoman for Sprint Canada's Quebec division are fini.
The long-distance company said Wednesday it's hanging up TV commercials that show the bilingual Bergen listening in bewilderment while Quebecers exchange slang terms of endearment on the phone.Sprint Canada evidently felt its marketing message wasn't getting through loud and clear with Bergen, whose French-dubbed "Murphy Brown" was last carried by a Quebec TV network five years ago.
Bergen - whose French is a little stiff - will be replaced by a trio of home-grown stars.
