Deseret Book has opened a new store in American Fork - the company's 29th store to date.

The 3,360-square-foot store is located in a new shopping strip adjacent to Albertsons supermarket. The new bookstore is managed by Barry Jensen, former manager of Deseret Book at East Bay."This area will feel more ownership with this store," Jensen said. "It's far enough away from University Mall Deseret Book to have its own market. The community can truly call it their own Deseret Book."

The store was located in this area to serve other northern Utah Valley communities, including Lehi, Alpine, Highland, Pleasant Grove and Lindon. "There is tremendous growth in this area," said Jensen. "A number of residents in this end of Utah Valley commute to the Provo-Orem area and Salt Lake City. We anticipate more store traffic when the new LDS temple opens in American Fork."

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is constructing the Mount Timpanogos Temple in American Fork.

Store hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturdays.

On April 8, Gordon Ryan, author of "Dangerous Legacy," will appear from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Mary Ellen Edmunds, author of "Love is a Verb" and "Thoughts for a Bad Hair Day," will appear from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.
