One dog died and a second suffered from heat exhaustion after they were left in a groomer's drying cage too long.
"This can't be happening. It just does not seem real. It is too horrible," Bobbi Hyder said Thursday, grieving over the death of her 6-year-old dog, Bo.Bo, a longhair Shih Tzu, was groomed at a Petstuff store Tuesday and placed in a cage under the hot air flow for about an hour. His temperature rose above 110 degrees and he died on the way to a veterinarian.
Duke, Bo's 8-year-old father, was in the same cage for more than 25 minutes and had a temperature of 108. He was wrapped in wet towels and treated for heat exhaustion. A dog's normal temperature is about 101.
Petstuff officials said they didn't know why the dogs were left under the dryer so long.
