A Baptist church in Colorado was in hot water Thursday for baptizing a 7-year-old Jewish boy, despite his mother's explicit instructions not to.

The Cornerstone Baptist Church of Colorado Springs, already named in a lawsuit for baptizing children without their parents' consent, said Sunday's baptism of Wayne Ausgotharp was a mistake.Audrey Ausgotharp said she sent Wayne and her 5-year-old daughter to a Sunday school class at Cornerstone to give them a look at another religion. She is Jewish and is raising the children in her faith.

When the woman filled out a permission form to allow her children to ride a church bus, she left explicit instructions that church officials not baptize them. But Wayne came home baptized anyway, with church workers saying his baptism was unintentional, she said.
