Ralph Buehler Maw (Captain, USN, Ret.), age 58, died April 14, 1995 of Lou Gehrig's Disease (ALS) in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Born September 2, 1936 in Salt Lake City to Herbert Brown and Florence Buehler Maw. Married Marilynn Jones on December 28, 1957 in the Los Angeles LDS Temple. He graduated from Northwestern Dental School and served in the U.S. Navy as an oral surgeon for 20 years from 1960 to 1980. After retiring from the Navy, he opened a private practice in Escondido, California, as an oral maxillofacial surgeon. His service in the LDS Church includes callings as branch president, bishop, temple ordinance worker, member of stake presidencies, and most recently as President of the Nebraska Omaha Mission. His missionaries never left his presence without first feeling of his great love for each one of them.He is survived by his wife; five daughters and one son, Keri Lynn Wright (Bryan), Laura Ann McArthur (David), Melinda Hawkins (Brian), Suzanna Dawson (Ted), Michael David Maw (Maria), and Rebecca Louise Brown (Robert); 12 grandchildren; a brother, Herbert Warren Maw (Joan); and two sisters, LaRue Hathaway (Ben), and Jeanne L. Nibley (Bill).
Funeral services Tuesday, April 18th, at 12 Noon, in the Garden Park Ward Chapel, 1150 East Yale Avenue (1080 South). Friends may call at the Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple, Monday evening 6-8 p.m., and at the ward on Tuesday, 10:45 - 11:45 a.m. Burial will be in the Salt Lake City Cemetery.
