Utah State University is offering free Saturday gardening classes through Oct. 14 at the Utah Botanical Gardens in Farmington.

The next class in the series, a workshop on hanging baskets, starts May 6. The class is free, but materials, including a basket, moss and soil, cost $15. For a list of additional supplies you will need to bring, call 451-3204. Because space is limited for this class, USU requires pre-registration.All classes are from 9-10:30 a.m. at 1817 N. Main and are offered on alternate weekends.

Composting for beginners, May 20; basic landscaping considerations for your home, June 3; lawn care and watering, June 17; annual flowers in the landscape, July 8; perennial flowers, July 15; trees and shrubs, July 29; gardening with children, Aug. 12; annual Labor Day weekend open house: various programs offered, Sept. 2; bulbs and fall perennials, Sept 16; and winterizing your yard, Oct. 14.
