The University of Utah finally told us what we didn't want to know. Coach Majerus and his $187,000 isn't really being paid much by the taxpayer and the university. But logic says that money received through gate receipts, student fees, etc., belong to the university; i.e., the state of Utah; i.e., the taxpayers.
Even though Coach Marsden and his wife aren't too poor at $94,000, we remember that he won 10 national championships. The box score compared to the basketball coach is 10-zip. A bowl win was worth a $54,000 raise. How many professors received such a raise?Maybe it's time the educators rein in their high-priced associates, redistribute the wealth and recognize that the U. is for education not tournaments, bowl games, gate receipts, etc.
