Larry Echo-Hawk will speak at a free forum assembly Tuesday, May 23, at 11 a.m. in Brigham Young University's de Jong Concert Hall.

The forum will be broadcast live on KBYU-TV (Channel 11) and rebroadcast on Sunday, May 28, at 6 and 11 a.m. It will also be broadcast live on KBYU-FM (89.1) and rebroadcast Sunday, May 28, at 9 p.m.A member of BYU's law faculty, EchoHawk became Idaho's 30th at-tor-ney general in January 1991, the first American Indian in U.S. history elected to such a post. He is a former state legislator and was an unsuccessful Idaho gubernatorial candidate last fall. He was a county prosecutor and has taught law at BYU, the University of Utah and Idaho State University.

In 1991 he was awarded George Washington University's prestigious Martin Luther King medal for his contribution to human rights and was honored as a speaker at the Democratic National Convention.

EchoHawk was awarded an NCAA Silver Anniversary Award as a record-setting collegiate star who has enjoyed a prominent professional career. He was a two-year starter for BYU's football team and played in every game during his three-year career.
