Antonie (Tone) Earl Duke, 84, died June 8, 1995 following a long, courageous battle with cancer.

Born November 24, 1910 in Provo, Utah to Mahonori Moriancumer Duke and Wilmurth Lamaudy Wall Duke. Earl spent his youth in Magna. He married Rae Phyllis Lymburner May 18, 1944.Member of the LDS Church. He was very proud of his pioneer heritage and his military service. He was a member of the 238th Replacement Company serving in Hawaii and Okinawa during World War II. Earl was a Staff Sgt., supervising the entire mess personnel of the 73rd Battalion in four mess halls. They helped feed 50,000 men twice a day on Okinawa. He was awarded the Bronze Star.

Earl spent his adult life in Southern California where he was a professional bartender at Hollywood Race Track Press box and Turf room. He also worked at Santa Anita Race Track and several of the big hotels in the Los Angeles area.

He was preceded in death by parents, wife, five brothers and three sisters. He is survived by one brother, Lewis Duke, of Magna; and numerous nieces and nephews, including his care givers, Barry and Janice Fisher and their family.

We are thankful for the wonderful care Earl received at St. Joseph Villa. We would like to thank the administration: Sis Jeanette, also Marie and Mary Kay and the staff; Siobhan, Strala, Julie, Michelle, RaNae, Dorothy, Teena, Debbie, Robin, Chris, Namon, and Nate. A special thanks to Wally, Susan, and Angie and all the staff on 3 South Quinney Unit. Also, thanks to Dr. Mary Jane Norman and Karen Walton.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, June 17, 1995, 12 noon, at Loma Vista Memorial Park in Fullerton, California, where Earl will be buried next to his dear wife. Friends may call Wednesday, June 14, 1995, 7-9 p.m. at the Peel Funeral Home, 8525 West 2700 South, Magna.
