The Musee Marmottan, located in a town house in the 16th arrondisement, displays a collection of more than 100 paintings, pastels and drawings - a terrific collection of his work from Giverny. Many of the pieces were donated by Michel Monet, the artist's son.

- Musee d'Orsay, on the left bank of the Seine in St. Germaine, has about 60 Monets among its extensive Impressionist collection. This stunning museum of 19th-century art and culture, located in a renovated train station, draws big crowds.

Musee d'Orsay is open 10 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Tuesdays through Sundays; until 9 p.m. Thursdays. It is at 1 Rue Bellechasse. Metro: Solferino.

- L'Orangerie in Tuileries gardens has two ovals rooms that showcase eight huge water lilies - the set from the "Decorations des Nympheas" that Monet gave to France.
