The victim of an accident Friday near Heber City has been identified, and a separate accident has killed a Colorado man.

Killed Friday was Kathleen Dominic, 18, of Enumclaw, Wash.Sunday's victim was Julius Picuri, 35, Boulder, Colo.

Dominic was driving east on U.S. 40 about 30 miles east of Heber, when her car crossed the center line and collided head-on with a westbound vehicle, said Sgt. Jeff Peterson.

The westbound car, driven by Gloria Murdock, 67, burst into flames. Murdock was taken to University Hospital, where she was listed in critical condition Monday morning.

Dominic died at the scene. A passenger in her car, Cummings Vanderhoop, 20, was treated at Wasatch County Hospital and later released.

- Picuri was killed in a near head-on collision near Holden, Millard County, early Sunday morning.

Joseph Young, 26, thought he was heading south on I-15 about 1:20 a.m. Sunday. He was actually driving east on U.S. 50 when he fell asleep and drifted into oncoming traffic, according to Utah Highway Patrol officials.

Young awoke in time to see a Chevy van, driven by Picuri, coming toward him. Picuri tried to avoid hitting the truck but was unsuccessful. Picuri died from his injuries at the scene, said Cindy Reder of the UHP.

Picuri's wife, Brenda Brummond-Peterson, was injured in the accident. She was taken to LDS Hospital, where she was listed in serious condition with internal injuries, Reder said.

Her son, Christopher Peterson, 9, suffered two broken legs and a broken ankle and was taken to LDS Hospital, Reder said. Three other children, ages 12, 6 and 6 months, weren't injured in the accident. The baby was in a child restraint seat, but it's unknown whether the others were wearing seat belts, Reder said.

Young, the driver of the pickup truck, suffered a broken leg and internal injuries, Reder said. He was taken to a Salt Lake Hospital.
