Clifford Elisha Warner passed away at his home in Provo on July 25, 1995, at the age of 82.
He was born March 28, 1913, in Spanish Fork, Utah, the son of Elisha and Elsie Robertson Warner. On June 20, 1935 he married Beryl Whiting in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. After his youth in Spanish Fork and school experiences there, he attended Brigham Young University, where he played a key role on two conference championship track teams and graduated with a bachelors degree in accounting. For the first years of marriage he was employed as an accountant in the dairy industry in Utah. During the years of the Second World War he worked for the IRS out of San Francisco, and after the war for the Western Pacific Railroad Company, rising to the leadership of the accounting department of the company. The family lived first in San Francisco, then in Redwood City, California. He closed his career with the Interstate Commerce Commission, living with his family in Denver, Colorado, Adelphi, Maryland; Walnut Creek, California and Provo.
Second to his unstinting devotion to his family, came his service to the LDS Church, of which he was a committed member. He served in several bishoprics, as a stake clerk, at the Missionary Training Center, as a temple worker, and as an active genealogist.
Like his father, he was a gifted writer, producing several biographies and a considerable volume of poetry. He loved athletics all of his life, especially track, and as an adult, kept active for many years playing tennis. A humble and straightforward man, he enjoyed a wide reputation as a person of complete integrity.
He is survived by his wife, Beryl, their four children, C. Terry Warner, Carolyn Nicolaysen, both of Provo; Joel Warner, Jacksonville, Florida; Christine Cary, also of Provo; 24 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren; and by his sisters and brothers, Bernice Warner Beardall, Springville; Max R.
