Indy-car driver Carlos Guerrero of Mexico slides backward along the track after spinning and making contact with the wall at Turn 3 during Sunday's Marlboro 500 at Michigan International Speedway. Guerrero's crash was one of several in the race, the most serious coming when Danny Sullivan ran into the back of Lyn St. James's disabled car. Sullivan suffered a broken pelvis and was hospitalized in stable condition. Scott Pruett edged Al Unser Jr. by .056 seconds for the win - the second closest Indy-car finish of modern times. See story on Page D3.
