Salt Lake police believe a man who was found dead in the back of pickup truck Sunday was murdered.

The man, who appeared to be in his 20s, had been shot in the head and was found by an ambulance driver about 10:30 a.m., said detective Jill Candland. The truck, parked on 700 West at 1600 South, was apparently pulled to the curb between 8 and 10:30 a.m., police said. Emergency medical technicians working for Gold Cross Ambulance found the truck with its door open.

When the EMTs approached, they saw blood dripping from the back of the truck and found the man lying face down. His back was covered with scrapes and bruises, as though he had been run over, police said.
