Mary Alice Hansen welcomes Salt Lake Police Chief Ruben Ortega to her neighborhood Night Out Against Crime celebration Tuesday night. The 92-year-old organized the party in conjunction with the national event designed to improve local crime prevention, strengthen relationships between communities and generate community spirit. Hansen's gathering of 25 neighbors was one of hundreds of block parties and celebrations statewide. Police officers visited most of the events. Story on Page B2.
