Osako Uno, 101, quietly passed away August 21, 1995 at the home of her son, Raymond, with whom she has lived for the past 36 years.

Born March 1, 1894 in Okayama, Japan to Ikuzo and Asano Kinugasa Teraoka. She married Clarence Hachiro Uno, a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in France during World War I. He preceded her in death on January 21, 1943, while they were both interned in Heart Mt. Concentration Camp, Wyoming.She graduated from Japan Women's University, Tokyo, Japan. She was a school teacher in Japan and taught in a Japanese school here. She was employed by Esther Hall, a Methodist Women's Home in Ogden, Utah, until her retirement in 1960. She was a member of the Japanese Church of Christ and Okayama Shinyu Kai.

A devout Christian, Osako was a very hardworking, generous, kind and caring person. She was a very important person in the lives of her grandchildren, who she helped raise and with whom she spent so much time in their childhood years. She loved to read and to watch tennis and baseball on TV. She enjoyed her many trips to Las Vegas, Wendover and Mt. Hermon, a Japanese Christian Retreat in the Santa Cruz Mountains in California.

She will be greatly missed, especially her wonderful sense of humor, by her family, particularly her grandchildren, and her relatives and many friends. The family wants to thank Reverends Kent Ikeda and George Hanabusa, and friends, Yeiko Homma and Michiko Chrysel, for their spiritual and personal attention over the years. Although she will no longer occupy the special seat reserved for her at the Japanese Church of Christ on Sundays, she will always be there in spirit. A special thanks to Nurse Sonne Lloyd and Dr. Al Namba, for their time and invaluable advice.

Survived by children, Wallace I. Uno, Magna; Yuki (Henry) Tomomatsu, Gardena, Calif.; Judge Raymond S. (Yoshiko) Uno, Salt Lake City; eight grandchildren, David and Jill Tomomatsu, Tab, Kai, Mark (Kris), Sean and Lance Uno, Melissa (Steve) Uno Eischen; and one great-grandson, Cooper Eischen; brothers, Tsugio, Saburo and Shiro Teraoka, living in Japan. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and brother, Hajime and sister, Fuyuko Fudeyasu.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 26, 1995, 10 a.m. at the Japanese Church of Christ, 268 West 100 South, where friends may call one hour prior to services. Funeral Directors: Deseret Memorial Mortuary.
