A songwriter claims Garth Brooks' hit "Standing Outside the Fire" copies elements of a song he co-wrote with Kenny Loggins.

Guy Thomas filed a federal lawsuit claiming that Brooks' song is similar to "Conviction of the Heart," recorded on Loggins' "Outside From the Redwoods" album in 1993.The lawsuit seeks an injunction against Brooks' future use of the song as well as damages of at least $5 million.

Brooks had no comment, his publicist said.
