"Shoes on Sale," an October benefit sponsored by the Fashion Footwear Association of New York and QVC, is expected to generate more than $1 million for breast cancer awareness and research.

The nationwide televised fund-raiser is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 14, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Eastern time. Members of FFANY, a trade association, are donating 50,000 pairs of women's shoes from the fall collections. They are to be sold at 50 percent below suggested retail during the three-hour sale.In addition, a Shoe of the Day will be featured on QVC's Morning Show, 7-9 a.m. each weekday morning in October. Net proceeds also will benefit breast cancer awareness and research.

Beneficiaries are New York Hospital-Strang Cornell Breast Center in New York City and the Virginia Clinton Kelly Breast Cancer Fund at the Arkansas Cancer Research Center in Little Rock.

Among shoes to be sold are styles from Aerosoles, Amalfi, American Eagle, Andre Assous, Anne Klein, Ann Marino, Azaleia, Bandolino, Bass, Bruno Magli, Calico, Charles Jourdan, Cole-Haan, Daniel Greene, DKNY, Dextger, Easy Spirit, Enzo Angiolini, Esprit, Hush Puppies, Jack Sprat, Jacques Levine, Joan & David, Larry Stuart, Liz Claiborne, Mootsies Tootsies, Naturalizer, Nina Nine West, Prima Royale, Ralph Lauren, Sacha London, Sam & Libby, Sporto and Unlisted by Kenneth Cole.

FFANY, a non-profit organization, has 300 corporate members representing more than 800 shoe brands throughout the world. QVC Inc. is the electronic retailer based in West Chester, Pa.

Last year, the first year for the benefit, 50,000 pairs of shoes were sold in tents in Central Park near the Plaza Hotel where FFANY is headquartered. The sale netted $900,000, according to Dick Jacobson, FFANY president. This year, he added, the goal is to net more than $1 million.
