Heritage Museum of Layton (403 Wasatch Drive, Layton, 546-3524) - A combined display of historical artifacts and paintings of art educators to commemorate the upcoming centennial celebration of the state through Nov. 5.

Kimball Art Center (638 Park Ave., Park City, 649-8882) - Main gallery: "18th Annual Exhibition of the Northwest Rendezvous Group," featuring work by member and guest artists through Sept. 27.

Museum of Art (Brigham Young University, North Campus Drive, Provo, 378-2787) - "American Musical Instruments from the Metropolitan Museum of Art," through Sept. 30; "150 Years of American Painting," artwork from BYU's permanent collection, on display through August 1999; "C.C.A. Old Provo Courthouse (100 S. Center, Provo) - Oil paintings, pastels and woodcuts by retired BYU professor, Max Weaver, through Sept. 30. A reception will be held for the artist today, Sept. 10, 3-6 p.m.

Artists interested in exhibiting in the Salt Lake Public Libaries should submit a portfolio of 35 mm slides, or photographs if slides are unavailable, to the city library location where they wish to exhibit. Portfolios should be submitted within the two-week period prior to Oct. 15. For portfolios and other requirements, contact the city library.
