Leila Abbott Cundick, age 88, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, passed away Wednesday, January 24, 1996.
She was born December 28, 1907 in West Jordan, Utah, to Charles LeRoy Abbott and Bertha Irving Abbott. Leila graduated from LDS High School and received a B.S. degree in education from the University of Utah. She taught school in West Jordan, Brigham City, Sandy, and Price, Utah. She completed her teaching career in Pocatello, Idaho, where she retired in 1968.On June 17, 1941, Leila married Harvey Cundick in Provo, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. A member of the Cottonwood 20th Ward, she was active in the LDS Church her entire life and served faithfully in numerous callings. She loved music and served as a ward organist most of her adult life. Along with her music, she enjoyed handwork, reading, and gardening. She was a member of the daughters of the Utah Pioneers.
Leila is survived by her loving and supportive husband, Harvey; two children, Douglas Cundick (Lynda) of Phoenix, Ariz.; and Marilyn Baughman (Gary) of Moorestown, New Jersey; six grandchildren, Ericka and Garett Cundick of Salt Lake City; and Jason, Cameron, Ryan, and Chris Baughman of Moorestown, New Jersey. Two brothers, Irving Abbott (Joyce) of Phoenix, Ariz.; and LeGrande Abbott (Kaye) of West Jordan. Preceded in death by brothers, Hollis and sisters, Marie and Pauline.
Funeral services will be held Monday, January 29, 1996 at 12 noon at the Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 South State, where friends may call one hour before services.
Interment, West Jordan City Cemetery.
