Wanted for allegedly shooting a Pennsylvania police officer, Yehia Elham Badawi lived in Salt Lake City in apparent obscurity until he was featured on the television program, "America's Most Wanted."
Badawi, 19, was arrested near 274 East and 900 South Friday just before 2 p.m. According to the FBI, his arrest was the result of a tip from a viewer.Badawi is charged with the robbery of a Philadelphia supermarket in September 1994. Two masked men carrying rifles escaped on bicycles and a chase ensued. A police officer was shot and seriously injured. One assailant was shot and apprehended.
Badawi has lived in Salt Lake City since the robbery. He was arrested without incident and admitted his identity to police.
