Stephen Carlquist, age 76, passed away January 28, 1996, at his home in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Born August 8, 1919, in Salt Lake City, Utah, the son of Carl Hjalmar and Sarah Ethel Rich Carlquist. He married Iris Mary Nicholes on Dec. 21, 1941, in Lehi, Utah.Avid University of Utah fan. Loved his family and grandchildren. Was an active member of the Democratic Party and the Crimson Club. Graduated from the University of Utah; BS 1942, MS 1947.

Survived by his wife, Iris of Salt Lake City; one son and one daughter, David A., Bountiful, Utah; Stephanie (Raymond) Nicholson, Vancouver, Wash.; dear friend, George Frandsen, Bountiful, Utah; six grandchildren, Sara, John, Emily, Tom, Ellie, Jeff; two brothers, Richard (Willa), Hazelton, Idaho; Roger (Amante), Annapolis, Md.; two sisters, Natalie Day and Edith Reed, Salt Lake; brothers-in-law, Douglas A. Smith, Salt Lake City; Lloyd Woolstenhulme, Victor, Idaho; sister-in-law, Agnes Carlquist, Atlanta, Georgia.

Preceded in death by son, Stephen; daughter, Janey; one brother, Philip; three sisters, Mary Carlquist, Ethel Woolstenhulme, Roberta Smith.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 31, 1996, 1 p.m., at the Holbrook Funeral Chapel, 3251 South 2300 East, where friends may call Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Wednesday for one hour prior to services.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to the Utah Symphony, 123 West South Temple, SLC, UT 84101.

Interment, Draper City Cemetery. Directors, The Holbrook Funeral Chapel.
