We are repeatedly told that President Clinton gave a marvelous State of the Union speech.
It is difficult to take seriously a man who tells us "the days of big government are over" when, just months ago, he advocated that government take over the entire health-care system of the United States. This man told us he would reduce taxes in 1992 and then apologized in 1995 for "raising taxes too much."
In '92, he campaigned on the theme "it's the economy, stupid." He now advocates social problems that will increase the debt and opposes a tax cut that would stimulate economic growth.
Clinton told us Americans should return to the concept of personal responsibility but then stated that government would see to it that no citizen would be left to fend for himself; i.e., we will expand socialism.
Clinton made fun of the concept of "family values" in '92 but would now have us believe he is the chief advocate of morality - Paula Jones and the endorsement of homosexuality notwithstanding.
The conclusion is obvious. If you liked the Clinton speech, better vote for someone else.
