Herman Joseph Uffens, 82, passed away October 11, 1996 at his home in Bountiful, Utah.

Born June 8, 1914 in Salt Lake City to Herman and Cora Geeritsen Uffens. He married Antonette Bezooyen, November 15, 1935 and their marriage was later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. Together they served an 18 month mission to the Netherlands in 1979-1980 and then served diligently as ordinance workers in the Salt Lake Temple for 10 years (1981-91). He retired in 1976 from the Union Pacific Railroad and as a retiree, Herman enjoyed working in his yard, golfing and was know to be an avid sports enthusiast.He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Survived by his wife of 61 years, Toni Uffens, Bountiful; his two sons, Ronald J. Uffens and Dr. David H. (Marilyn) Uffens, both of Seattle, Wash.; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Lena Nordstrom; Cora Frederickson.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, October 16, 1996 at the Bountiful 31st Ward, 585 East Center St. Friends may call Tuesday, Oct. 15, 1996 from 6-8 p.m. at the Russon Brothers Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 No. Main St., and 11:45-12:45 prior to service on Wednesday, Oct. 16, 1996. Interment at Wasatch Lawn Cemetery.
