A tail rises above the surf as rescue workers guide a humpbacked whale calf to deeper water on the Queensland Gold Coast Wednesday in Australia. The calf was successfully towed out to sea after it became stranded in shallow water near Coolum. Staff members from two marine parks attached a sling around the whale and maneuvered it to safety in a seven-hour operation. The whale accidentally ended up in shallow water after swimming with its mother into a nest of sharks.
