Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, Lewis Dale King, age 73, passed away October 30, 1996, in Salt Lake City.
Dale was born Dec. 11, 1922, in Ammon, Idaho, the son of Thomas Ervin and Mabel R. Clark King. He married Norma Day on March 17, 1949, in the Mesa Arizona Temple. He served in the Navy Air Corps in the South Pacific during World War II.He graduated from BYU in 1949 and returned to complete a Masters of Science Degree in 1956. He taught at North Dakota State University and later worked for the Dept. of Defense at Deseret Test Center. An active member of the LDS Church, he served in the Canyon Rim Stake in many positions including Bishop and High Counselor. Dale was a genealogy enthusiast, a collector and writer of stories and poetry, and was known for his storytelling, sense of humor, and wisdom. He touched many with his kindness and generosity.
Survivors include his wife Norma, Salt Lake City; his three sons: Jerald (wife Marjorie) King, Salt Lake, Thomas David (wife Jennifer) King, Germantown, Maryland, and Clark (wife Sally) King, Salt Lake; his eight grandchildren: Emily, Rebecca, Katherine, Andrew, Susan, Audrey, Daniel, and Melissa; his four sisters: Dorothy Pace, Salt Lake, Norma Atwood, Salt Lake, Shirley Huffaker, Mesa, Arizona, and Audrey Jackson, Provo, Utah. He is preceded in death by his parents and three brothers: Clark, Grant, and Harold.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 2, 1996 at 12 noon at the Grant 4th Ward, 1111 East Charlton Ave. (2815 South). Friends may call Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 South 2300 East, and at the ward on Saturday for one hour prior to the services. Interment: Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park. Funeral Directors: The Holbrook Mortuary.
