Edith May Harris DeLand Magnussen, age 80, on October 4, 1996, she returned home to her Father in Heaven.

She was a faithful, loyal daughter of Zion. Edith left her home on high to dwell in Bristoll, England on January 20, 1916 with Henry John and Alice Maude Witts Harris. On May 20, 1939, Edith met and married John L. DeLand in Toronto, Canada, their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.Edith bore and raised five children, John L. DeLand, Jr., Midvale, Utah; Dallas R. Baird, Alto Loma, Calif.; Ruth E. Hansen, South Weber, Utah; Jared H. DeLand, Salt Lake City; and Heber W. DeLand, Rosamond, Calif. She leaves 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

She worked at LDS Hospital as a nurse for 20 years. Mom and dad served as missionaries in the Salt Lake Native American Ward for three years. She was active in the church and the Temple right up to the end. Dad went on ahead, Sept. 14, 1987 to prepare her well deserved mansion. Friday, he took her home.

She married Julius Magnussen, February 25, 1991. He brought great joy to her for five years. Thank you, Julius.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 8, 1996 at 11 a.m. at Liberty 8th Ward, 500 South 300 East, Salt Lake City. Viewing will be held at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 255 South 200 East, Salt Lake City, on Monday, October 7, 1996 from 6-8 p.m. and also on Tuesday from 9:45-10:45 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in the Centerville Cemetery. Services under the direction of Russon Brothers Mortuary, Salt Lake City.
