Betty Fein was such a Yankee fan she trained her parakeet to say, "Go, Mickey. Go, Yankees." Six years after her death, she finally got her last wishes this month: The Bombers won the Series, and her ashes were scattered at Yankee Stadium.

Eddie Ellner thought his grandmother was joking when she broached the idea of having her ashes scattered at the House That Ruth Built the next time the Yanks won the championship. "But over time, she became insistent about it, and it was, like, `Eddie, this is no joke,"' he told the Daily News. She died of cancer at age 83.On Thursday, five days after the Yankees clinched their first championship in 18 years, Ellner somehow sneaked onto the field and sprinkled the ashes along the first-base line, beside the Yankee dugout and on home plate.

"That was perfect. We did a good thing, didn't we?" Ellner was heard telling a friend as he completed his task.

Ellner, who lives in California, flew to New York with his brother in time for Tuesday's ticker tape parade. "When I made the plane reservations, I said to myself, `I am finally going to do this insane thing.' "
