A killer whose bid to avoid the electric chair became a test case for a new federal law expediting death penalty cases was executed Friday for the 1981 murder of a college student.

Ellis Wayne Felker's electrocution, at 7:30 p.m., came just hours after the Supreme Court unanimously rejected his final appeal.He declined to make a final statement but requested a prayer from the prison chaplain.
