A Salt Lake County doctor faces felony charges, accused of communications fraud and filing false claims totaling more than $90,000.
According to 3rd District Court documents filed Friday, Dr. Danny C. Purser is being charged in "two distinct kinds of crime."The first charge, filed under the Communications Fraud Act, is for filing false claims for Medicare and privately insured patients, the documents say. The second charge, filed under the False Claims Act, is for false claims filed for Medicaid patients who are unable to pay for medical treatment.
A probable cause statement providing the details of the case, including a list of patient names, was filed separately from the court charges and sealed for reasons of privacy, the documents say.
The charges do state, however, the alleged false claims total $96,095. A warrant for Purser's arrest was issued Friday.
